Consider This…

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2

So I found the scripture that Pastor Pete was basing his sermon series.

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Proverbs 18:21

The above scripture is a proverb that accentuated the power of words to affect life and death. Some would argue words do not create life or death that is true…but God breathes life and some people create death. It is a warning that words of the tongue can be used for good and evil, to encourage or discourage, to be forthright or deceitful. It also implies that there are positive and negative consequences to the words we use when we talk to others around us. It implies that we as people should think before speaking.

11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1Thessalonians 5:11

The above scripture is one of many favorites of mine. Here the explanation is simple in that we should speak to people with positive encouraging words. Words that give confidence express kindness and love, caring and compassion. There are many other people that would pass judgment and speak harsh and unkind words to people they do not and do know.

This is usually the point where I would make conclusions and remind everyone that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and saves all people and end the blog…usually.

However I feel compelled to take this simple wisdom, this proverb just a step farther. As a writer I feel that written words are just as powerful as the spoken words. The old adage “The pen is mightier than the sword” holds some truth. This is one of the reasons why I write a blog about the Christian faith. If I can write and speak that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and can save everyone then that is what I should do and do this by my words spoken and written then that is what I should do. The scripture below tells the Christians the things we should be doing.

15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Mark 16:15-16

So then spoken and written words should be used by the Christian faith to spread the Word of God to the entire world.

Remember:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21
