2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2
In last week’s blog I referred to this scripture:
38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38
So those of us that have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior are filled with the Holy Spirit a gift from our Heavenly Father God Almighty. Then there is this scripture:
29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29
There are a lot of people that are not of the Christian faith that curse and swear a lot. There are also some Christians that still do curse and swear a lot. In the above scripture it does not only address the cursing and swearing of people but also the argumentative, opinionated talk of those that strive to create controversy and dissension. There are many time in the Old Testament that our Heavenly Father God Almighty sent prophets to places where too much sin is taking place but the warnings of the prophets were not heeded by the people and so as God did as he said He would if they did not listen to the prophet and calamity fell upon the people time and time again. Let me add just one more scripture here.
19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. James 1:19
In the above scripture we are not to become angry so quickly that we should remain quiet and not speak but listen. In my opinion this is truly wisdom. There is no wisdom in anger or arguments. Listening to people will pave a way to resolution faster than arguing with them.
So since the Holy Spirit is in Christians it does not dominate our lives except for when we want to. We have free will to decide what we want to do however if we decide to let the Holy Spirit guide us then that is what the Holy Spirit will do. However as Christians we have to exercise a good amount of self discipline in our Christian journey as seen in the two previous scriptures. It is easy to become a Christian. Is it easy to be a Christian? No it is not but it is worth it.
Remember:
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21
