2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2
It is that time of year where we celebrate the Christmas season with joy, peace, love, and holly not the girlfriend the plant. Many people are accustomed to saying, “tis the season” as to give meaning that it is a season of love, peace, joy, and good will to all.
Love is very subjective in that a person can have the love of family, the love for friends, the love of children, the love of a boyfriend or girlfriend and or the love for themselves. In our present society there is no love for others outside our small social circle of internet friends and real life friends and family.
As for peace human kind has seen fit to not ever have it in our world. Somewhere in this world there is war and violence as hatred fills our streets.
I searched the internet for the definition of “Good will” and found this from the online Merriam-Webster dictionary website that I copied and pasted below.
Goodwill
noun
good·will ˌgu̇d-ˈwil
a
: a kindly feeling of approval and support : benevolent interest or concern
people of goodwill
b(1)
: the favor or advantage that a business has acquired especially through its brands and its good reputation
(2)
: the value of projected earnings increases of a business especially as part of its purchase price
In the above definition I noticed that the first line is the only line of definition of Good will that applies to human kind the two remaining lines are definitions in regards to accounting which does not apply here in this blog I just applied it here because I was being lazy. Here is that definition again.
: a kindly feeling of approval and support : benevolent interest or concern
people of goodwill
It concerns me that the dictionary people used an overly generalized and vague sentence to define good will. I then searched other dictionary websites for the definition of “good will” and found the same generalization and vagueness. Allow me to give you the reader my personal and Christian definition.
Sandman’s Definition of Good will
To be compassionate, considerate, to love and honor, to care for and respect, have brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Have patience, show kindness, and be generous to the poor.
I think that just about covers it although we could add more but now then it’s time for a scripture bomb.
24 Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor. 1 Corinthians 10:24
4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4
32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, Colossians 3:12
Goodwill to all does not mean conducting protest march or incite riots it does not mean to create violence and hatred it is however the exact opposite.
Goodwill to all means
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21
