Consider This…

2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2 (NIV)

3 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1

I was pondering what to blog about this week and I was looking at some free Christian wallpaper for my computer desktop the other day when I found this scripture inside a very well made wallpaper.

There are four points that I would like to make here stemming from this one little ol itty-bitty scripture.

For some odd reason this scripture resonated in me and it reminded me of the scripture below.

15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. John 17:15-18

In the top scripture, 1John 3:1, non-believers of the Christian faith will not know or understand Christians simply because they do not know God if you are a Christian you would nod your head and understand…that was the easy part. If you are not a Christian you would scratch your head and wonder why that was the easy part.

The above scripture, John 17:15-18, Jesus is praying for his disciples as they travel to many countries, cities, and towns spreading the gospel about God and prayed that God would protect them from Satan (but that you keep them from the evil one). The disciples followed those teachings of Christ Jesus and spread those very same teaching to all the people healing and getting rid of demons from people as they traveled.

Christians are not of this world, They are not of the world, because we follow God’s commandments and will we do not follow the desires of the world. I have read many articles pertaining to the scripture of John 17:15-18 and understand and agree with most. Many of the articles point out that we the people that God has created still look to conform to this world even though we are Christian. Some of us look for the new bigger and better television or fuel efficient car or perhaps a newer and better computer we Christians are bombarded by the world we live with advertisements everywhere we look. Greed surrounds our community, country and world. Many of these advertisements encourage us to be part of the world in one fashion or another.

Many other people feel that John just wrote about what Christ Jesus prayed as he sent the disciples to town cities and countries teaching people about God as Christ Jesus has taught them.  My opinion is of this line of thought.

The present day Christian must be weary of the world as it attempts to bring us into the world rather than being of strong Christian faith and following the commandments and the will of our Heavenly Father God Almighty. There is much evil, anger and hatred in our world today, which brings me to this scripture below.

19 We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 1 John 5:19

So my first point is that Christians are the children of God something that non-believers cannot understand. For if, they did understand this then they are the children of God as well. So for as long as they do not believe they will never understand Christians or the Christian faith.

Secondly, Jesus prayed to God that the disciples would be protected from the evil one or Satan. As any Christian knows, Satan would do anything to take Christians away from the Christian faith or stop the spreading of the Christian faith. For this reason, the present day Christian must stay strong in faith and trust in God with all things. I believe that the present day Christians should also pray for protection from the evil one just as Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior did for his disciples and that we would do the things that the disciples did…or at least try.

Thirdly remember evil is everywhere in our present day world.

Here’s the fourth point.

Remember:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV

God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

P.S. I apologize for the fonts and appearance of this post as this website is still new to me maybe some day I will actually figure out to to do this corrector…some day…maybe.
