After much discussion with my dad I put him into Hospice. I wrote this letter to my dad today and just wanted to share it with you the reader.
Dear Dad,
I know I am not your favorite but I know God wanted me to be the person in our family that takes care of people especially you and mom. After many decades of going to school and working in the nursing field I have come to the point in God’s plan to do the things that God wanted me to do and that is to take care of my parents. I know I am not your favorite but at least God is happy with me. I cannot find favor with people but at least I will find favor with God which is abundantly more important than people.
You did all the things that you had to do according to the bible. You had me baptized and you gave me to God as your first born son. You guided me in my Christian life as a Christian father should…Thank you.
There were many times in our lives that we did not agree with one and another. In hindsight I see that was because I was following God’s plan or at least mostly…be proud of me.
I hope that God finds favor in my prayers for you so that you may be blessed and healed. That God would bless me with all the things that I need to take good care of you.
Thank you for your love
Thank you for your guidance as a Christian
Thank you for watching over me
Thank you for taking care of me when I was sick
Thank you for teaching me
Thank you for teaching me about the Christian faith.
Thank you for everything you have done for me
Thank you for being a great dad.
I know I am not your favorite but be proud of me…I know God is.
I love you dad.
In Christ,
Harold
