Consider This…

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2

I have been under a lot of stress lately as I have a sister that comes to visit my dad, who is in hospice, then proceeds to yell at me for not keeping the house clean even though I spent the last 3 days cleaning house in preparation of her weekly arrival. She does exemplify a lot of emotional abuse characteristics but I just forgive her and move on. So this has been going for a few months now so I decided to seek the advice of one of the CGC members that I consider of great Christian wisdom.

When I explained the events involving my sister there was a short pause and then he said, “You could do math but that’s a little time consuming.”

Puzzled I replied as I chuckled “What?” He then proceeded to tell me of the scripture below.

21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Matthew 18:21-22

So here is my interpretation of the above scripture. You could count all the times that person has sinned against you and when you get to 490 times you could angrily shout “I do not have to forgive you your sins against me anymore!” This would require a lot more energy and record keeping on your part. Or just keep on forgiving them and keep on loving them no matter how many times they have sinned against. Personally I choose the latter because I am lazy. It is much easier to forgive and continue to love.

Remember:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21
