Consider This…

Last week I discussed briefly how we as Christians are to be like Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. This week I will explain, hopefully well, that in doing so we will “bear good fruit.”

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prune so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. John 15:1-8

The above scripture is one of many metaphors that Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior used in His teachings. If you are a person that does not believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and does not believe in the Christian faith then the above scripture will have no meaning to you. For those of the Christian faith the meaning is simple.

God is the gardener, Jesus Christ is the vine, and those that believe Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior are the branches that produce the grapes or the fruit. Below is an important portion of the scripture.

if you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Simply put in order to be successful, fruitful, Christians must continue to have faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior in all things and because of our faith in Christ Jesus He will always be with us that as long as we remain faithful and we will always be fruitful. The last segment apart from me you can do nothing is simple in that if you do NOT believe Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior then your life cannot be fruitful.

So the question is “What is fruitful?” The answer is simple doing all things that Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior teaches us to do such as teaching your children about Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and loving everyone including your enemies. To lead your household as a Christen leader with wisdom and love which at times is not always easy as I have learned but has long as I have faith I know Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior will always be with me and guide me to do the things He wants me to do.

Remember:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21
