Consider This…

This is the first week of February a month where we celebrate love on Valentine’s Day. The origin of Valentine’s Day is somewhat shrouded in mystery and speculation. The Catholics have Saint Valentine or Valentinus that was beheaded because they professed love and marriage as the Roman Empire Claudius forbade such things. Apparently unattached Roman soldiers fought better than those with family or significant others in their life. Christians on the other hand wanted to Christianize the pagan holiday Lupercalia that was celebrated in the middle of February. Lupercalia is the festival of fertility dedicated to the roman god Faunus the god of agriculture. During the Middle Ages it was commonly believed that February 14th was the beginning of the birds mating season. The English Poet Geoffrey Chaucer wrote a poem to celebrate this day titled “The Parliament of Fowls”.

Regardless Valentine’s Day has history and I myself will take the Linus perspective. You know Linus from Charlie Brown and the Peanuts and the gang. Valentine’s Day is a marketing strategy created by the Florists, Card companies and Candy companies’ to gouge the wallets of men all over the world it’s run by a big syndicated organization…but that’s just me.

Below are 10 scriptures about love that Christians should do and exercise every day that I call

10 Scriptures about Love That Christians Should Do and Exercise Every Day

(Sometimes we can do it other times not so much depends on the people)

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:8

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8

13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. Proverbs 10:12

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. John 14:15

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Romans 12:9

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

So as you can see Christians do not love just one day out of the year we love all throughout the year or at least we try although some people make it difficult at times. Kind of “I love you but you make me crazy” relationship.

Below is a prayer to help you start on your path as a Christian.

Dear Lord,

I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself only. I am sorry and repent all my sins. I ask that you forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me to save me. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life; I give you my life to you. From this day forward help me to live every day for you and in a way that pleases you. I love you Lord and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you. Amen

Remember:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

God bless all those that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy and wisdom in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21

P.S. – There are many nonbelievers that believe that the bible is a hoax to these people I will say come back next week as I blog about the “Atheist Weak Sauce.”
