Consider This…simple

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2

Definition of propitiation according to Merriam Webster dictionary: the act of gaining or regaining the favor or goodwill of someone or somethingthe act of propitiating APPEASEMENTa sacrifice in propitiation to God.

Okay I did blemish the definition at the end there but I think its okay in a Christian blog.

The other day I was looking at some Christian wallpaper for my computer desktop when I happened across this scripture on a beautiful wallpaper for desktop.

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.  1 John 4:9-12

I realize the language contained in the King James Version of the bible may be a little difficult to understand at times, which is why I try to use various versions to simplify the scripture but sometimes it is impossible to escape.

There are a lot of educated theological and scholar interpretations of this scripture but I like to think that sometimes…it is just simple.

  • God loves us
  • God sent His son to us
  • Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and died for our sins
  • God loves us and the Christian faith requires us to love each other
  • When we love each other we love as God loves us and God’s love is within us and his love is perfected in us.

See..simple.

Remember:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
