Consider This…

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2

I just finished reading the book of Genesis for the 5th time. According to scholars and scientists the book of Genesis was written around 1450 B.C. by an unknown author. Some believe that Moses wrote the book of Genesis but if the documents are dated to 1450 B.C. then that would be well before the life of Moses so not Moses but someone we do not know.

The book of Genesis contains many stories such as Adam and Eve and Noah and the great flood (Genesis 5-9). Then there is Abraham another key figure in the Old Testament. The story of Abraham is found in Genesis 12-25 and one that is told often as to show Abraham’s faith in God and is a wonderful example of the faith we should have in God. Joseph is another key figure in the book of Genesis, Genesis chapters 37-50, in that it shows how God will guide and bless us in our life so that we may do things that we need to do for God.

So the book of Genesis like so many other books in the Old Testament shows us how God works in our life. The Old Testament has many messages that show us in that how God works in the lives of Christians through blessings, guidance, strength and comfort and sometimes through divine intervention.

I am accustomed to citing scripture in my blogs but for the book of Genesis, which is 50 chapters long, there many scriptures that would have helped and would be inspirational. Instead of citing the scriptures let me just say this. Read the bible and start with the book of Genesis…it’s a good read. Oh wait I am reminded of two scriptures for this blog.

22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22

The scripture above tells us that when we read the bible and the scriptures within it we as Christian should do what the bible says to do. If we do not then we are deceiving ourselves. That is wisdom…simple wisdom.

Remember:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
