2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2
After having read the book of Genesis I dove into the book of Exodus which as the name implies tells the story of the Israelites leaving Egypt. But not after many miraculous signs from God such as the Nile turning to blood infestations of gnats, flies, frogs, locusts and the death of all first born throughout Egypt. It was at this point that the Pharaoh decided to let the Israelites leave Egypt. This is a story that most Christians know.
It is the scripture below, found in the book of Exodus, which brought me great comfort and joy (to quote a Christmas song).
13 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Consecrate to me every firstborn male. The first offspring of every womb among the Israelites belongs to me, whether human or animal.” Exodus 13:1-2
There are many interpretations of the above scripture most are long winded. My interpretation of the above scripture, right or wrong, is that all the first born whether human or animal belongs to God. I may not be an Israelite but I am a Christian. I am the first born male in my parents family I have been baptized and I have accepted that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior who died for my sins. I am happy that I am the first born son of this family and I belong to God. It also means that I have to follow God’s will and commandments which I will do happily. It is not always easy but well worth it…I am happy I am a Christian.
Remember:
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
