2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2
I recently moved to Texas and it was a very long drive, about 23.5 hours, I traveled in 12 hour blocks. As I traveled towards Texas I prayed for traveling mercies for myself as I embarked on my journey. During my trip I wondered about the meaning and origin of the phrase “traveling mercies” along with the occasional thoughts of when is the next rest area. I searched for traveling mercies on Google and this is what I found.
Traveling Mercies Meaning. The term “traveling mercies” does not appear in the bible, but there are hundreds of examples of God showing mercy for others. Mercy is God’s compassion or concern for us even though it is within His power to punish or harm us. A traveling mercies prayer is said for someone who is going on a trip or starting a big journey.
There is no scripture that directly talks about traveling mercies but I did find this one scripture that speaks volumes to me.
15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Genesis 28:15
I like this scripture because its in the beginning of the bible we hear of many scriptures like this but this one is said by God in the book of Genesis and the scripture tells us that God will always be with us everyday with every person whether we are traveling or in our journey as Christians.
Remember:
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21
